China’s Wentao blames US actions for trade tensions

Investing.com -- China’s Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with Apple CEO Tim Cook on Thursday and blamed "intensive U.S. restrictive measures" for recent tensions in China-U.S. trade relations.

Wang stated that U.S. measures implemented after talks in Madrid in September have "seriously harmed China’s interests and undermined the atmosphere for bilateral trade consultations," according to a statement released by the Chinese Commerce Ministry.

During the meeting, Wang expressed hope that the United States would "work with China to find ways to address issues through dialogue and consultation on an equal footing, and to provide more stable expectations and conditions for enterprises from both countries to cooperate."

The commerce minister also welcomed Apple to deepen its cooperation with China and increase its investment in the country.
