After Falling Below 8,000, Dow Works Higher

After crossing below the 8,000 level, the Dow has managed a remarkable comeback and currently sits down 177 points to 8400.

Yesterday's 678 point Dow decline, on top of weeks of immense selling, has investors around the globe reeling. Asian markets felt heavy pressure with the Nikkei closing down 9.6% and the Hang Seng losing 7.2%. European markets are working off their lows but are still down; The FTSE 100 is down 4%, The DJ Euro Stoxx 50 is down 5% and the DAX is down 5.5%.

One main concern is driving the weakness across the world --- that concern is that the credit crisis will spread to the real economy with customers unable to get access to credit and businesses unable to fund themselves.
