eBay's (EBAY) Payment Processing Unit May Begin Accepting Bitcoin

eBay's (Nasdaq: EBAY) PayPal might begin accepting Bitcoin via its Braintree payments subsidiary, another step in the right direction for proponents of the virtual currency.
According to the WSJ, PayPal officials have met in recent weeks with companies that facilitate Bitcoin payments, such as Coinbase, Inc. No firm deal is yet in place and timing has not been speculated.
Braintree facilitates payment solutions for such companies as Uber and Airbnb. The company was processing $12 billion in payments annually before it was acquired by eBay for $800 million in December 2013.
Shares of eBay are positive in early trading.
