UPDATE: Demetriades says Cyprus central bank independence under attack

Panicos Demetriades head of Cyprus' central bank, said the bank's independence under attack from the government. He did not immediately elaborate on what sort of actions were being taken.
Reports out Friday have Demetriades claiming the government is making the moves as he and his family are receiving death threats from depositors who lost money in Cyprus' bailout.
Demetriades is also member of European Central Bank’s Governing Council. Comments were made during an interview.
