Vietnam Looks to Circulate Sprout Pharma's Addyi (VRX)
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health’s Pharmaceutical Management Department said Wednesday that it might license Sprout Pharma's Addyi for circulation in the country.
According to Vietnam's Tuoi Tre, clinical tests are required in Vietnam for any medicine which has to pass five years of circulation from the date of production in the country where it was made. Should Addyi pass muster, it can apply for registration of circulation.
While Addyi has been dubbed the “female Viagra, it actually works differently than the popular erectile dysfunction drug. Addyi affects the brain, versus the genitalia.
Addyi will be available in the U.S. starting October 17th.
Notably, it was announced earlier that Valeant would acquire Sprout Pharma for $1 billion plus future milestone payments.
