Vertex (VRTX) Higher After Pharmasset (VRUS) Hep-C Trial Issues

Vertex Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: VRTX) is moving higher following news earlier from Pharmasset, Inc. (Nasdaq: VRUS) that will amend the design of the QUANTUM Phase 2b trial after detecting laboratory abnormalities associated with liver function in subjects receiving PSI-938 300 mg once daily.
Vertex has competing Hep-C products.
Vertex is over 4 percent higher in pre-open trading.
While Vertex is higher, a number of Hep-C drug makers are lower.
Inhibitex (Nasdaq: INHX) are down 37 percent, shares of Idenix (Nasdaq: IDIX) are down 16 percent and shares of Achillion (Nasdaq: ACHN) down almost 5 percent.
