Entera Bio names Riccardo Camisasca as chief medical officer

Entera Bio Ltd. (NASDAQ: ENTX) has appointed Riccardo Paolo Camisasca, M.D., as chief medical officer, according to a company statement. The appointment comes ahead of a planned Phase 3 initiation for the company's lead drug candidate, EB613, an oral tablet treatment for osteoporosis.

Dr. Camisasca brings more than 30 years of experience in clinical development, medical affairs, regulatory strategy, and R&D leadership. He most recently served as Global Head of Research & Development at Sumitomo Pharma Switzerland, where he oversaw the integration of R&D operations across Urovant, Enzyvant, Altavant, and Myovant. He has also held roles at Bial, Syneos Health, Takeda, and Novartis.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Camisasca spent approximately 10 years as a physician and researcher at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, with a focus on endocrinology and metabolic disease. He earned his medical degree with honors and specialized in clinical pharmacology at the University of Milan.

"I have spent my career advancing medicines through increasingly complex stages of clinical development," Dr. Camisasca said in the statement. "I look forward to working with Miranda and the team to execute the EB613 Phase 3 program with the discipline required for registrational development."

Entera's EB613 is an oral formulation of PTH(1-34), also known as teriparatide, being developed as a once-daily tablet for osteoporosis. The company completed a Phase 2 study of 161 patients that it said met all biomarker and bone mineral density endpoints without significant safety concerns.

CEO Miranda Toledano said the appointment strengthens the company's clinical leadership as it moves into late-stage development. Entera is a Tel Aviv-based clinical-stage company focused on oral peptide and protein replacement therapies.
