Monster (MWW) Employment Index Shows 8% Gain in December

According to data Friday, the Monster (NYSE: MWW) Employment Index (MEI) rose for the month of December.
The MEI came in at 140 for December, down 4.8 percent from 147 in November, from up 8 percent from 130 reported in the same period last year.
Industries producing the largest gains were Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Hunting as well as Transportation and Housing. Agri moved 42 percent higher, while transportation rose 30 percent in December.
Lowest growing industries remained Public Admin at an 11 percent drop, and Educational Services with a 9 percent drop.
Occupations growing the most were Personal Care and Service at 72 percent and Transportation at 38 percent, while Education fell 8 percent and Business and Finance Ops dropped 7 percent.
For the best growth areas, Cincinnati remained atop the list with 27 percent, while Detroit produced a 24 percent gain. Moving he least was New York City at 1 percent, and Boston at 3 percent.
Further: "Monster Employment Index Europe recorded year-over-year growth of 11 percent in December. The engineering sector continued to lead the index for the fourth consecutive month while legal and the public sectors record annul declines. Germany, up 32 percent, continued to lead all countries in annual growth." MEI India had a 7 percent increase, with Telecom/ISP leading all sectors higher.
