UPDATE: PriceSmart (PSMT) Reports Q2 EPS of 79c

(Update corrects consensus, notes impact to earnings)

PriceSmart (NASDAQ: PSMT) reported Q2 EPS of $0.79, may not compare to the analyst estimate of $0.67. Revenue for the quarter came in at $854.4 million versus the consensus estimate of $856.66 million.

Comparable net merchandise sales, for warehouse clubs that have been open for greater than 13 ½ calendar months, decreased 0.9% for the 13-week period ended March 3, 2019 compared to the same period in the prior year.

• The second quarter fiscal 2019 earnings were negatively impacted by $4.2 million or $0.14 per share from costs related to investments to expand our omni-channel capabilities, together with net operating results of our marketplace and casillero business. A payment from a credit card processing vendor positively impacted earnings during this quarter by $1.6 million or $0.05 per share.
