Shares of RIM Fall in After-Hours on Soft Guidance

Following its highly-anticipated Q1 results which were issued after the close today, shares of Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM) have sold off about 5.9% from the close. The stock most recently traded at $72.60.

Q1 adj-EPS came in at $0.98, a 16.7% increase from Q109. Sales for the quarter came in at $3.42 billion, up 53% from the $2.24 billion reported in the same quarter last year.

As for guidance, which is what the market usually responds to following RIMM earnings, Q2 EPS are expected to be in the range of $0.84-$0.89, modestly below the Street estimate of $0.90. Sales for next quarter are expected to be $2.55-$2.65 billion, just ahead of the analyst consensus of $2.44 billion.
