April 2, 2008 2:34 PM EDT
Shares of Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ: RIMM) are flat on heavy volume ahead of the company's fourth quarter results due after the close. Wall Street is looking for EPS of $0.70 and revenues of $1.86 billion.

A number of analysts have come out positively ahead of the results, citing strong fundamentals for the BlackBerry maker.

- Citigroup expects another solid quarter and guidance and sees a channel inventory draw-down

- Piper Jaffray expects earnings at the high-end of its guidance or in-line with the firm's estimates of $1.87 billion in revs and EPS of $0.70. The firm also raised FY09 and FY10 estimates on RIM.

- TD Newcrest believes Q4 results will come in at the top end of guidance and is expecting solid Q1 guidance from the company

- RBC Capital expects in-line Q4, with Q1 guidance expected materially above street on strong momentum.

On the opposite side of the trade was S&P Equity Research. The firm recently downgraded the stock to Hold, noting the 20% run-up in the stock since January. They also believe challenges at financial services customers could impact RIMM. Their estimates for the important May quarter are more conservative than Street consensus. [LJ]
