Exa (EXA) Misses Q1 EPS by 121c

Exa (NASDAQ: EXA) reported Q1 EPS of ($1.25), $1.21 worse than the analyst estimate of ($0.04). Revenue for the quarter came in at $13.8 million versus the consensus estimate of $13.94 million.
Included in GAAP net loss and non-GAAP net loss for the first quarter is a $14.5 million non-cash charge to record a valuation allowance against net deferred tax assets in the United States, as well as a $0.7 million non-cash write-off of state deferred tax assets associated with a cumulative change in ownership for tax purposes.
Exa sees Q2 2014 revenue of $14.2-14.8 million, versus the consensus of $14.3 million.
