When in Doubt Sell Semis (SMH)
Semiconductors stocks are getting murdered today, with Market Vectors Semiconductor ETF (NYSE: SMH) losing 3.3 percent intra-day. The move lower is tied to expectations of slowing global growth. Semis have been the favorite pinata for bears for about three months and so today's horror show shouldn't come as a surprise to traders. Still, as valuations continue to get squeezed, investors have to begin to wonder when is enough enough?
Intel Corporation (NYSE: INTC) is lower by 3.2 percent intra-day, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (NYSE: TSM) lost 3.11 percent, and Texas Instruments Inc. (Nasdaq: TXN) took a haircut of 3 percent.
