TRE-GS Weekly Chain Store Sales Index Rose 1.3% Y/Y (XRT)
US DATA: The Retail Economist-Goldman Sachs (TRE-GS) Weekly Chain Store Sales Index declined by 1.6 percent (seasonally adjusted) compared with its previous week for the period ending on Saturday, December 26. On a year-over-year basis, sales advanced by 1.3 percent. "In-store holiday shopping ahead of Christmas Day was brisk, but sales were not during the lead up to the holiday. The roller-coaster pattern of weekly sales during this holiday season was accentuated by earlier holiday promotions, more online ordering, and some abnormal weather patterns." Sales are tracking only marginally softer y/y.
