Retailers are on watch Tuesday following new sales data out this morning.

The ICSC-Goldman same-store sales index fell 1.0 percent for the week ending September 21st. Year-over-year sales gained 1.6 percent, from a prior reading of 3.2 percent.

A comparison with rates during August points to weakness for the ex-auto ex-gas reading in the government's retail sales report for September, according to the report.
