May 10, 2012 3:35 PM EDT
Shares of Monster Beverage (NASDAQ: MNST) are up close to 10 percent today after the company beat earnings estimates by 3c. Shares of MNST spiked last month on reports Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO) might acquire it, but those reports were denied by Coca-Cola.

MNST has a 4.85 percent weighting in Consumer Staples AlphaDEX (NYSE: FXG), an ETF that tracks stocks in the consumer staples sector that generate positive alpha relative to traditional passive-style indices through the use of the AlphaDEX(R) screening methodology.

FXG was up 1 percent in late trading on Thursday.
