Investors Take an Interest in Semiconductor Stocks
Market Vectors Semiconductor ETF (NYSE: SMH) is on the move today and is up 2 percent mid-day on Tuesday. Interest in the sector was peaked after a Nomura Securities analyst, Romit Shah, made the case that NVIDIA (NASDAQ: NVDA) and Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) would be a good strategic fit.
Intel Corp has a 20.94 percent weighting in SMH and NVIDIA has a 2.67 weighting. Both stocks are up today, with NVDA leading the pair with a gain of 2.74 percent. SMH is up close to 2 percent in a market that is generally positive.
