Bond Yields Back Off Lows
Yields on 10-year U.S. treasures are moving off their lows as markets calm. Investors rushed into bonds last week after the U.S. jobs number came in below expectations, and this combined with a potential break-up in the EU has had investors shunning risky assets and buying bonds, even as yields collapse. The yield on the US 10-year is 1.57 percent, up from a low of 1.44 last week.
According to a Fed model, valuation measures showed Treasuries are at almost the most expensive level ever.
iShares Barclays 20+ Year Treas Bond ETF (NYSE: TLT) is moving lower today as yields rise. iShares Short 20+ Year Treasury (NYSE: TBF), an inverse bond ETF, is expected to open higher.
