Roth Downgrade Weighs on Zhongpin (HOGS) Shares

Shares of Zhongpin (Nasdaq: HOGS) are down sharply Monday afternoon (although well off session lows set at $8.26) following an earlier downgrade from Roth Capital's Kun Tao. The stock last traded at $10.13, down nearly 4 percent from Thursday's closing price.

Roth Capital lowered its investment rating on Zhongpin from Buy to Neutral and reduced its price target on the stock from $13.50 to $9.

Tao cited worries related to financing and an extended timeline for a buyout amid a recent SEC investigation.

The analyst's new price target represents potential downside of about 11 percent from where the stock is currently trading.
