LIXTE Biotechnology announces leadership changes and $5 million funding
LIXTE Biotechnology Holdings (NASDAQ: LIXT) announced several corporate developments over the summer months, including leadership restructuring, fundraising activities, and strategic initiatives.
In June, the company appointed Geordan Pursglove as Chairman and CEO, while former CEO Bas van der Baan transitioned to Chief Scientific Officer. The company also relocated its headquarters to Boca Raton, Florida, and reconstituted its Scientific Advisory Committee.
On July 1, LIXTE completed a $5 million private placement offering that included common stock, preferred shares, and warrants. The funding helped the company regain compliance with Nasdaq listing requirements.
The company reported second-quarter results showing no revenue and a net loss, consistent with its clinical-stage status. Funds were directed toward advancing LB-100 trials across sites in the United States, Spain, and the Netherlands.
In September, LIXTE expanded its board of directors with the addition of Lourdes Felix and Guy Primus, and appointed Peter Stazzone as Chief Financial Officer.
The company disclosed scientific developments including a publication in Nature journal showing that patients with PPP2R1A mutations demonstrated improved survival outcomes when treated with LB-100. LIXTE also announced a collaboration with the Netherlands Cancer Institute to explore LB-100's potential in cancer prevention by targeting cells with cancer-related mutations.
LIXTE revealed it holds $2.6 million in digital assets as part of its treasury strategy. The company stated this represents a balance sheet diversification approach alongside its clinical development activities.
The information is based on company press release statements. LIXTE develops PP2A inhibitors for cancer treatment, with LB-100 as its lead compound in clinical trials for solid tumors.
