Coinbase cuts trading fees for active users on Advanced platform

Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) announced on September 16, 2026 a revised fee structure for active traders on its Coinbase Advanced platform, reducing spot trading rates across multiple regions and consolidating volume tiers to include both spot and derivatives activity.

Under the new structure, the qualifying volume threshold for advanced tiers has been lowered to $10,000 from $25,000, allowing traders to reach reduced fee levels sooner. Entry-level spot trading fees vary by region: U.S. traders face a 0.50% maker and 0.90% taker fee; EU and UK traders pay 0.25% maker and 0.50% taker; and traders in Brazil, India, and other international markets pay 0.09% maker and 0.10% taker.

Traders can also qualify instantly for VIP fees by holding USDC on the platform. Coinbase One members retain an unlimited 3.5% annual percentage yield on USDC holdings. At the highest VIP8 tier, spot crypto trading fees reach as low as 0 basis points for makers and 2 basis points for takers.

In eligible international perpetuals markets, Coinbase is introducing maker rebates of up to 0.4 basis points at higher VIP tiers. Equity Perpetuals contracts, including the US 500 Perp, carry promotional pricing of 0 basis points maker and 1 basis point taker. U.S. stock trading remains commission-free.

"Advanced clients need deep liquidity, reliable execution and broad market access," said Shannon Kurtas, Senior Director of Product Management at Coinbase. "These changes are another investment in enhancing the Coinbase Advanced experience for our active traders."

The new fee structure took effect September 16, according to a statement from the company.
