Village Farms International, Inc. (NASDAQ: VFF) has commenced cultivation at its Phase II facility in Groningen, Netherlands, after receiving final regulatory approvals, the company announced.

The facility is expected to reach full production capacity in early 2027 and will bring the company's maximum annual production capacity in the Netherlands to approximately 10 metric tonnes.

"We're excited to announce that we've commenced all operations at our Phase II facility in Groningen, where our increased production capacity will enable us to continue driving profitable sales growth through the remainder of this year and beyond," said President and Chief Executive Officer Michael DeGiglio.

Village Farms operates cannabis cultivation and processing facilities as one of ten licensed operators in the Netherlands' regulated cannabis program. The company also operates facilities in Canada and holds interests in cannabis businesses in Australia and Germany.

The Groningen facility represents an expansion of the company's European operations, which are part of its global cannabis business spanning over 7 million square feet of greenhouse and indoor cultivation assets.

The information is based on a company press release statement.
