Sunshine Biopharma Inc. (NASDAQ: SBFM) announced the commercial launch of generic doxycycline in Canada. The antibiotic is now available to pharmacies, hospitals and healthcare providers nationwide.
Doxycycline treats respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases, acne, and tick-borne illnesses including Lyme disease. The company's version comes in 100 mg tablets and is manufactured in compliance with Health Canada's regulatory framework.
"Launching Doxycycline in Canada aligns with our mission to deliver high-quality, affordable medications that meet real clinical needs," said Dr. Steve Slilaty, CEO of Sunshine Biopharma.
The global doxycycline market was valued at approximately $729 million in 2024 and is projected to reach $1.2 billion by 2030, according to DataString Consulting. The North American segment is expected to contribute significantly to this growth.
Sunshine Biopharma currently markets 76 generic prescription drugs in Canada and has more than 12 additional drugs scheduled for launch in 2026. The company also develops proprietary treatments including K1.1 mRNA for liver cancer and PLpro protease inhibitor for SARS coronavirus infections.
Distribution of the doxycycline product is underway through established pharmacy networks and hospital channels. The launch follows the company's recent expansion into anti-infective therapies and complements its pipeline of generic drugs targeting infectious diseases, oncology, and metabolic disorders.
