Rockwell Automation, Inc. (NYSE: ROK) announced the launch of its CompactLogix 5390 controller on Oct. 13, expanding its Integrated Architecture controller family for machine builders and manufacturers.

The new controller includes built-in cybersecurity capabilities aligned to the IEC 62443-4-2 standard and is designed to support compliance with the EU Cyber Resilience Act. It also integrates safety functions into a single control platform.

According to the Milwaukee-based company, the CompactLogix 5390 has a footprint 43% smaller than its predecessor, the CompactLogix 5380, which the company says reduces panel space requirements. The controller also supports local PointMax I/O for more modular machine architectures.

The product is designed to integrate with other Rockwell Automation offerings, including Kinetix motion solutions, PowerFlex drives, Stratix networking technologies and FactoryTalk Design Studio software.

"Manufacturers and machine builders are being asked to do more than deliver performance. They must also address increasingly stringent cybersecurity and safety requirements while managing larger, more connected operations," said Siva Iyyamperumal, senior product manager at Rockwell Automation. "CompactLogix 5390 controllers bring these capabilities together in a single platform, helping customers simplify machine design, support regulatory readiness and scale advanced automation applications with confidence."

The controller is intended for OEMs, systems integrators and end users operating complex machines, process skids and production systems. Rockwell Automation employs approximately 26,000 people across more than 100 countries as of fiscal year end 2025.
