ReposiTrak, Inc. (NYSE: TRAK) announced that the first warehouse-delivered supplier is live with a major retailer on its ReposiTrak SBT 2.0 platform, expanding the scan-based trading model beyond its traditional use in direct store delivery.
Under the program, a supplier ships products through a retailer's warehouse and distribution network while retaining ownership of the inventory until each product is scanned and sold at the retail register. The point-of-sale scan automatically triggers a transfer of ownership from the supplier to the retailer and initiates supplier payment.
"Scan-based Trading is not limited to suppliers delivering directly to stores," said Randy Fields, chairman and CEO of ReposiTrak. "This successful launch demonstrates that the financial and operational benefits of SBT can also be extended to warehouse-delivered products."
The model allows retailers to align payment with actual consumer sales rather than purchasing inventory upfront. Suppliers retain ownership until products sell and gain access to store-level sales and inventory data intended to support forecasting and replenishment.
ReposiTrak also offers optional ordering assistance for suppliers or retailers seeking additional replenishment support, using sales and inventory data to identify store-level product needs.
"The ability to support warehouse-delivered products substantially expands the addressable market for SBT," Fields added. "Retailers and suppliers can now evaluate SBT based on the economics of the product category and the trading relationship—not simply on whether the supplier delivers directly to the store."
The announcement is based on a press release from ReposiTrak, which provides retail supply chain, compliance, and traceability solutions.
