Otis Worldwide Corporation (NYSE: OTIS) announced the global expansion of its Little Engineers STEM education program, which teaches elementary students about elevator and escalator technology through hands-on activities.
The program, originally launched in Hong Kong, has reached more than 800 students across Greater China and Asia Pacific regions. The company is now making the initiative available in all markets where it operates.
Recent expansions include partnerships in Saudi Arabia with the Jeddah Orphans Association and in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, where volunteers led 50 students through the program at Sharjah Indian School.
The Little Engineers curriculum involves interactive lessons where primary school students explore elevator science, learn about vertical mobility technologies, and build mini elevators and pulley systems. The program aims to introduce young learners to STEM fields while teaching elevator safety practices.
"This global expansion reflects Otis' commitment to engaging meaningfully in the communities we serve," said Matt Turner, Vice President of Social Impact at Otis. "Through initiatives like Little Engineers, we're helping young people discover the excitement of STEM, gain a basic understanding of elevator systems and core technology and learn and practice safe-riding tips."
The program complements Otis' existing Made to Move Communities initiative, which targets students aged 14 and older with innovation-focused problem solving. Little Engineers focuses on younger learners through hands-on exploration activities.
Otis employees serve as volunteers to deliver the program content in their local communities. The company operates in more than 200 countries and territories, maintaining approximately 2.4 million customer units worldwide.
