Oppenheimer hires seven derivatives professionals from Guggenheim

Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., a subsidiary of Oppenheimer Holdings Inc. (NYSE: OPY), has added seven senior professionals to its Institutional Derivatives business, all joining from Guggenheim Securities.

The new hires span derivatives strategy, sales, trading and technology. The team includes Ed Boll as Head of Derivatives Strategy; Steve Ahn in derivatives strategy and idea generation; Matthew Shaffer in derivatives sales and trading; Steven Weingroff, Nick Colucci and Julia Marcus in derivatives sales; and Jia Li in derivatives algo technology. William Visconto will support the business in an external advisory capacity.

The team brings experience working with hedge funds, asset managers and other institutional investors. Areas of specialization include convertible and capital-structure strategies, macro and systematic risk management, volatility and credit arbitrage, event-driven investing, biotech and healthcare derivatives, AI infrastructure, high-performance computing and crypto-related equities.

John Hellier, Senior Managing Director and Head of Equities at Oppenheimer, said the additions bring "experienced professionals, established institutional relationships and specialized expertise across strategy, sales, trading and technology."

Alon Rosin, Head of Institutional Derivatives Sales and Trading at Oppenheimer, said the team "strengthen our ability to engage clients from the earliest stages of idea generation through structuring and execution."

According to a press release, the expanded team is expected to collaborate with Oppenheimer's Convertible Bonds, High Yield, cash equities and prime services businesses to broaden client coverage and cross-product activity.
