OpenAI announced the global rollout of ChatGPT Go, a $8 monthly subscription tier that provides expanded access to its AI chatbot service. The plan, initially launched in India in August 2025, has expanded to 170 additional countries before becoming available worldwide.
ChatGPT Go offers users 10 times more messages, file uploads, and image creation capabilities compared to the free tier, along with access to the GPT-5.2 Instant model. The subscription includes longer memory and context windows to retain more user details over time.
The new tier positions between OpenAI's existing subscription options. ChatGPT Plus remains at $20 monthly and includes access to advanced models like GPT-5.2 Thinking and the Codex coding agent. ChatGPT Pro costs $200 monthly and provides full access to GPT-5.2 Pro with maximum memory and context capabilities.
OpenAI stated that Go pricing is localized in some markets, though specific regional pricing was not disclosed. The company reported strong adoption and regular use of the Go plan in markets where it was previously available.
The company plans to test advertisements in both the free tier and ChatGPT Go subscriptions in the United States. OpenAI said the ads will help maintain free and affordable access to its AI services. The Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise plans will remain advertisement-free.
ChatGPT Go users can access features including writing assistance, learning tools, image creation, and problem-solving capabilities through the subscription service.
