Nexentis subsidiary achieves drug discovery milestone
Nexentis Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: NXTS) announced that its subsidiary MitoCareX Bio Ltd. has generated an optimized hit molecule with improved pharmaceutical properties compared to its initial hit compound, according to a company press release.
The milestone represents the first drug discovery achievement since Nexentis acquired MitoCareX. The optimized molecule was developed using the company's MITOLINE algorithm platform, which creates 3D structural models of mitochondrial carrier proteins in the SLC25 family.
MitoCareX's program targets a mitochondrial SLC25 carrier protein for potential treatment of cancers and inflammatory metabolic diseases. The initial hit molecule was identified through MITOLINE-enabled virtual screenings and subsequently underwent medicinal chemistry optimization.
The optimized hit molecule demonstrates improvements across key pharmaceutical parameters as assessed through March 31, 2026, the company stated. The improvements include enhanced metabolic stability and drug-like properties.
"MITOLINE gave us the structural insight to identify a differentiated starting point for our medicinal chemistry program," said David Palach, Chief Executive Officer of Nexentis Technologies. "The team has now built on that foundation by generating optimized molecules with demonstrated improvements in metabolic stability and drug-like properties."
MitoCareX is advancing toward pre-clinical trials and developing a lead molecule based on the foundation established through the MITOLINE platform.
Nexentis Technologies operates as a drug discovery company through its wholly owned subsidiary MitoCareX Bio and also invests in European renewable energy assets. The company controls approximately 98% of Save Foods Ltd., which focuses on post-harvest treatment technologies.
