MicroVision demonstrates tri-lidar system at ACT Expo

May 5, 2026 9:15 AM EDT

MicroVision Inc. (NASDAQ: MVIS) demonstrated its tri-lidar architecture at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas, combining short-range and long-range lidar sensors in a unified perception system, according to a company press release.

The demonstration integrated MicroVision's MOVIA S short-range lidar with its HALO long-range lidar technology, which the company acquired from Luminar Technologies. The system used one forward-facing HALO sensor paired with three MOVIA S sensors to provide 360-degree environmental coverage.

The company's software platform processed data from all sensors in real time to generate a single point cloud for object detection, classification, and tracking. Greg Scharenbroch, MicroVision's VP of Global Engineering, said the integration was completed within a few months by the company's global engineering team.

MicroVision first introduced its tri-lidar architecture at IAA Mobility 2025. The system combines multiple specialized lidar sensors through a software-defined platform designed to reduce cost and energy consumption compared to traditional single-sensor approaches.

The Redmond, Washington-based company develops lidar-based perception solutions for automotive, industrial, and security markets. MicroVision operates engineering centers in the United States and Germany.
