Mesa Royalty Trust skips July 2026 distribution
Mesa Royalty Trust (NYSE: MTR) announced it will not pay a distribution for July 2026, as costs and expenses attributable to its royalty properties exceeded revenue from oil, natural gas, and other hydrocarbon sales, according to a press release.
The Trust holds an overriding royalty interest in producing oil and gas properties located in the Hugoton field of Kansas and the San Juan Basin fields of New Mexico and Colorado.
The Trust noted that accumulated excess production costs have resulted in reduced distributions and, in some periods, no distributions. Distributions to unitholders are also expected to remain reduced until the Trust builds its cash reserves to $2.0 million to provide added liquidity, as described in its most recent Form 10-Q filing.
The Trust stated that monthly distribution amounts fluctuate based on production proceeds, oil and natural gas prices, and administrative expenses, among other factors. Proceeds reported by working interest owners for any given month are not generally representative of amounts the Trust will receive in future periods.
