Marqeta Inc. (NASDAQ: MQ) appointed Mike Milotich as chief executive officer and director, effective immediately, according to a company statement. Milotich had served as interim CEO since February 2025 while maintaining his role as chief financial officer.
The board of directors conducted a search process before selecting Milotich for the permanent position. "After completing a thorough search, the Board determined that Mike is the right CEO for Marqeta," said Judson C. Linville, chair of the Marqeta board.
Milotich joined Marqeta as CFO in February 2022, overseeing financial planning and analysis, corporate development, accounting, settlement and investor relations functions. Before Marqeta, he held positions at Visa as senior vice president of corporate finance and investor relations, and previously worked at PayPal and American Express in business analysis roles.
The company will begin searching for a new chief financial officer with assistance from an executive search firm. Milotich will continue serving as CFO until a successor is identified.
Marqeta operates a card issuing platform for embedded finance solutions and processed nearly $300 billion in annual payments volume in 2024. The company is certified to operate in more than 40 countries.
Milotich holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an MBA from New York University.
