Simultaneous with the reorganization, MFS Investment Management was replaced by abrdn Inc. as the fund's investment adviser. The fund was renamed Aberdeen Multi-Market Income Fund, though its ticker symbol MMT and CUSIP number 552737108 remain unchanged, and it continues to trade on the NYSE.
The fund's prior board of trustees resigned, replaced by five trustees elected by shareholders on May 18, 2026: Todd Reit, Nancy Yao, C. William Maher, Gordon Baird, and Christian Pittard.
Aberdeen's Global Fixed Income team will manage the fund, led by Jonathan Mondillo, Global Head of Fixed Income; Siddharth Dahiya, Global Head of Emerging Market Debt; Anthony Merola, Senior Investment Manager; and George Westervelt, Head of Global High Yield.
The fund's primary investment objective of seeking high current income while also considering capital appreciation remains unchanged. The fund plans to transition its portfolio to an average investment-grade credit quality over the next six months. No other changes to investment policies or strategies are currently anticipated.
According to the press release, Aberdeen had approximately $506 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2026, and managed 27 closed-end funds totaling $25.6 billion in assets.
