The Loveland Police Department in Colorado has expanded its use of BolaWrap 150 non-lethal devices to all sworn officers, according to an announcement from Wrap Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WRAP).
The deployment represents a transition from limited, role-based use to department-wide implementation. The BolaWrap device is designed to restrain individuals without using pain compliance, strikes, chemical agents, or electrical force.
"With BolaWrap fully deployed across our department, we believe our officers have an effective, non-lethal option for managing high-risk interactions safely," said Sergeant Michael Turay of Loveland Police Department.
Loveland officers have reported using the device in real-world encounters since initial integration. The department stated that recent incidents, including one with public video coverage, demonstrated the device's use in restraining individuals.
The BolaWrap 150 deploys what the company describes as a multi-sensory disruption using sight, sound and sensation. The device does not shoot, strike, shock, or incapacitate subjects, according to Wrap Technologies.
Wrap Technologies provides ongoing training support to the Loveland Police Department, including scenario-based instruction and program guidance. The company's Customer Success team assists with device integration into policy, tactics, and training workflows.
Wrap Technologies manufactures the BolaWrap device along with other public safety technologies including virtual reality training platforms and body-worn camera systems. The company states that BolaWrap is used by over 1,000 agencies across the United States and in 60 countries.
The information is based on a press release statement from Wrap Technologies.
