JPMorgan Chase launches fraud prevention initiative

JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) announced a fraud and scam prevention initiative that includes educational workshops, security technology enhancements, and dedicated support teams.

The bank will host more than 20 free educational workshops across the country during the week of November 17 in coordination with local law enforcement. The workshops aim to educate the public on recognizing scams and are part of Chase's regular fraud prevention programming across its more than 5,000 branches.

Chase reported it prevented customers from losing $12 billion in fraud and scam attempts last year. The bank operates branches in all lower 48 states.

The initiative includes several security features. Chase uses technology to identify when customers might be at risk of scams, potentially triggering in-app warnings or stopping payments for transactions linked to social media or other high-risk sources. The bank is introducing a trusted contact feature that allows customers to designate someone who may be notified of certain account transactions.

Chase operates a Scam Interruption team developed by behavioral psychologists, investigators, and scam prevention researchers. The team reaches out to customers to provide support and works to stop scams in real time. The bank also maintains an Elderly and Vulnerable Persons team focused on assisting older adults who might be victims of financial abuse.

The bank has partnered with AARP to provide BankSafe training to branch employees. Chase bankers receive ongoing updates on scam trends across the bank's 5,000 branch network.

"Protecting our customers from fraud and scams requires a united front—banks, technology companies, social media platforms, and law enforcement all have a role to play," said Jennifer Roberts, CEO of Chase Consumer Banking.

Chase serves more than 85 million consumers and 7 million small businesses. JPMorgan Chase reported assets of $4.6 trillion and $360 billion in stockholders' equity as of September 30, 2025.
