IBM extends partnership with Wimbledon tennis club

IBM (NYSE: IBM) and The All England Lawn Tennis Club announced a multi-year renewal of their technology partnership that began in 1990. The agreement continues IBM's role as the official AI, cloud and digital transformation partner for Wimbledon.

The collaboration has produced digital features including the Wimbledon website launched in 1995, mobile application in 2009, and AI-powered solutions introduced in 2017. Current offerings include Live Likelihood to Win and Match Chat features that utilize IBM's watsonx AI platform.

In 2025, engagement across Wimbledon's digital platforms increased 16% year-over-year, with more than 20 million fans using the app and website. The mobile application saw a 19% increase in engagement and received a 4.9-star average rating in app stores.

The All England Club received recognition as 'Sports Organisation of the Year' at the 2025 Sports Technology Awards for its use of AI and technology in fan engagement.

"For 36 years, IBM and the All England Club have embraced innovation and created world-leading digital experiences to bring our fans closer to The Championships," said Usama Al-Qassab, Marketing & Commercial Director at The All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Jonathan Adashek, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications at IBM, stated that the partnership aims to deliver "a world-class digital experience, driven by leading edge data and AI technology."

A global survey conducted by IBM and Morning Consult found that 86% of tennis fans worldwide see value in AI-powered features, particularly real-time insights and personalized highlights.
