Health Canada approves Sunshine Biopharma's generic Ondansetron

Sunshine Biopharma Inc. (NASDAQ: SBFM) announced that Health Canada has approved its generic Ondansetron tablets in 4mg and 8mg doses for the Canadian market, according to a company press release.

Ondansetron is a serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used to treat nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery. It is the generic equivalent of the brand-name drug Zofran. The company's approved formulations include standard film-coated tablets and Oral Disintegrating Tablets (ODT).

The company said it anticipates Ondansetron will be ready to ship to Canadian pharmacies by the end of 2026. Distribution will be handled through its wholly owned Canadian subsidiary, Nora Pharma Inc.

"This approval strengthens our position in the generics market and reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering affordable medicines that patients and healthcare providers can rely on," said Dr. Steve Slilaty, CEO of Sunshine Biopharma.

Sunshine Biopharma currently markets 60 generic prescription drugs in Canada and has approximately 12 additional drugs scheduled for launch before the end of 2026.
