Granite receives NSSGA safety and environmental awards

Granite Construction Inc. (NYSE: GVA) received multiple awards from the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association during the organization's Legislative & Policy Forum in Washington DC on September 17.
The company received the Louis Griesemer Sterling Safety Award in Silver, which recognizes member companies with the lowest total accident incidence rates within their size categories. The award was presented to Granite on a companywide basis in the large company category.
Ten Granite facilities received Awards of Excellence in environmental and community relations categories. The Solari Facility in Arvin, California, received both Platinum and Gold Environmental Excellence Awards. Three facilities received Silver Environmental Excellence Awards: Big Rock Aggregates Plant in Llano, California; Santa Barbara Construction & Demolition Facility; and Felton Quarry & AC Facility in Felton, California.
Two additional facilities received Bronze Environmental Excellence Awards: Handley Ranch Quarry in Gonzales, California, and Highway 175 Facility in Lakeport, California.
Three facilities received Bronze Community Relations Excellence Awards: Highway 175 Facility, Felton Quarry & AC Facility, and Handley Ranch Quarry. These awards recognize commitment to community engagement and initiatives that shape public perception of aggregates industry operations.
The Environmental Excellence Awards recognize operations that demonstrate commitment to environmental controls and systems, according to the press release.
