Gelteq Limited (NASDAQ: GELS), a Melbourne-based biotechnology company, issued a corporate update outlining clinical, commercial, and financial developments across its gel-based drug delivery platform during the first half of 2026.

The company commenced its first veterinary clinical trial, evaluating an antiparasitic drug candidate, with results expected in July 2026 and a planned FDA application targeted for later in the year. Separately, Gelteq said planning for its first human clinical trial has been completed, with the trial expected to begin in the quarter starting July 1, 2026.

Gelteq also commenced a preclinical study evaluating a diabetes medication using its delivery platform, with results expected in July 2026. The company said it is also developing stable oral formulations for peptide-based therapeutics, including compounds traditionally delivered by injection.

On May 7, 2026, the company signed a debt financing arrangement of up to $3.5 million with an institutional investor. An initial $1 million tranche was funded at closing via a convertible promissory note. A further $2.5 million is subject to shareholder approval, with a shareholder meeting scheduled for June 18, 2026. Repayments are not required for at least six months from the initial closing.

Gelteq completed palatability trials with Kemin Industries, demonstrating canine acceptance of formulations containing bitter compounds. The company also manufactured a commercial product for a new customer in East Asia, with delivery expected in June 2026.

The company established a Center of Excellence in Guangdong Province, China, which it said will expand formulation and testing capabilities.

"The milestones achieved so far this year reflect continued execution against that vision and positions Gelteq for the next phase of development," said Nathan Givoni, Chief Executive Officer.
