Facebook's (NASDAQ: FB) latest effort to squeeze revenue from users involves a somewhat controversial program called Promoted Posts. For $7 Facebook users can get their posts more visibility on friend's news feeds.
The Promoted Posts feature has already rolled out in 20 other countries and is available to people with less than 5000 friends and subscribers. While the posts are only seen by friends, techcrunch.com's Josh Constine thinks it could "change the atmosphere of Facebook from one where the most beloved content gets seen most to one where the rich can dominate the news feed."
Regardless, at $7 a pop, Promoted Posts could be a real money maker for Facebook.
