Eton Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: ETON) announced the relaunch of HEMANGEOL (propranolol) oral solution through exclusive distribution via Anovo Specialty Pharmacy, according to a company statement.
The pharmaceutical company integrated its Eton Cares patient support program with the relaunch, offering $0 co-pay for eligible commercially insured patients and expanded patient assistance programs. HEMANGEOL represents the only FDA-approved treatment for infantile hemangioma, a pediatric condition affecting an estimated 5,000-10,000 infants annually in the United States.
The medication is indicated for proliferating infantile hemangioma requiring systemic therapy. Treatment typically begins between five weeks to five months of age and continues for approximately six months. Infantile hemangiomas are non-cancerous vascular tumors that appear in the first days or weeks after birth.
Clinicians can prescribe HEMANGEOL through e-prescribing by selecting Anovo #5 (Memphis) or by faxing patient referral forms. The company established a dedicated phone line at 833-486-5950 for patient and healthcare provider questions.
Eton Pharmaceuticals currently markets ten commercial rare disease products including HEMANGEOL, INCRELEX, ALKINDI SPRINKLE, GALZIN, and others. The company has four additional product candidates in late-stage development.
The medication carries warnings for potential serious side effects including low blood sugar, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, breathing problems, and increased stroke risk in certain patients. Common side effects include sleep difficulties, respiratory infections, diarrhea, and vomiting.
