Ethan Allen declares $3-per-share special cash dividend

Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. (NYSE: ETD) announced that its board of directors declared a special cash dividend of $3.00 per share, payable Sept. 17, 2026, to shareholders of record as of Sept. 3, 2026. The total payout amounts to approximately $76 million in aggregate.
The Danbury, Connecticut-based home furnishings company reported a debt-free balance sheet for fiscal 2026, along with a consolidated gross margin of 61.2% and an operating margin of 7.8%. The company generated $52 million in cash from operating activities during the fiscal year and paid $46 million in cash dividends.
According to a press release, Ethan Allen has returned over $402 million to shareholders through cash dividends over the past decade, including more than $46 million in fiscal 2026 and $50 million in fiscal 2025. The company also repurchased 250,000 shares during the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026.
"Our Board's decision to declare this special dividend reflects Ethan Allen's strong cash generation, debt-free balance sheet, sustained levels of profitability and confidence in our long-term strategy," said Farooq Kathwari, Ethan Allen's Chairman, President and CEO.
The company operates 171 retail design centers in North America, with 141 company-operated locations and 30 independently owned locations. It manufactures approximately 75% of its furniture across eleven North American plants. Capital expenditures totaled $11 million in fiscal 2026, with more than $59 million invested over the past five years.
Ethan Allen said it plans to open five new design centers in the near term as part of its fiscal 2027 growth strategy. The company also increased marketing spend by 13% in each of the past two fiscal years.
