Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) announced reduced pricing for Zepbound single-dose vials through its LillyDirect platform. The obesity treatment will be available with a starting dose of 2.5 mg priced at $299 per month, down from $349.

The 5 mg dose will cost $399 per month, reduced from $499. All other approved doses are priced at $449 per month through the Zepbound Self Pay Journey Program, according to the company statement.

Zepbound contains tirzepatide and is approved for adults with obesity or overweight individuals with weight-related medical conditions. The medication is also indicated for adults with moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea and obesity.

"Far too many people who need obesity treatments still face cost and coverage barriers," said Ilya Yuffa, executive vice president and president of Lilly USA and Global Customer Capabilities.

The pricing reduction follows Lilly's announcement last month of lower prices for Zepbound multi-dose pens, pending FDA approval. Regular monthly prices for doses not purchased through the self-pay program range from $599 for 7.5 mg to $1,049 for 15 mg.

Zepbound is available in doses of 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg, and 15 mg per 0.5 mL in single-dose vials and pen autoinjectors. The recommended maintenance doses are 5 mg, 10 mg, or 15 mg injected weekly for weight reduction, with 10 mg or 15 mg recommended for sleep apnea treatment.
