Disney names Paul Roeder chief communications officer

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) appointed Paul Roeder as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, effective March 19, according to a company announcement. Incoming Chief Executive Officer Josh D'Amaro made the appointment.

Roeder, a 25-year Disney veteran, previously served as Executive Vice President, Communications for Disney Entertainment Studios, Direct-to-Consumer, and International. In his new role, he will report directly to D'Amaro and oversee Disney's global communications strategy, media relations, and public relations operations.

His responsibilities include enterprise and business segment communications, regional communications teams across EMEA, APAC, and Latin America, executive communications, internal communications, employee engagement, public affairs, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

Roeder has led communications for The Walt Disney Studios since 2010, serving during major corporate acquisitions including Lucasfilm in 2012 and 21st Century Fox in 2019. He also oversaw communications during the 2019 launch of Disney+ and marketing campaigns for films including "Avatar: The Way of Water," "Avengers: Endgame," "Black Panther," and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Before his studios role, Roeder worked in Corporate Communications for Disney from 2002-2010 after joining the company's ABC communications team in 2001. He began his entertainment industry career at William Morris and later worked as an assistant to the executive producer on "Meet the Parents."

Roeder holds a bachelor's degree in English from DePauw University and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
