Commvault launches AI cyberattack recovery simulation program

July 7, 2026 8:32 AM EDT

Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT) has launched a cyber resilience simulation called "Minutes to Recovery," which allows security and IT teams to experience and respond to AI-driven cyberattacks in a structured two-hour session.

The simulation guides participants through three roles: attacker, defender, and recovery expert. In the first phase, participants use Frontier AI tools to build an attack. They then shift to detecting and containing the simulated threat, and finally work to restore systems and data to a verified clean state. The exercise concludes with a Mean Time to Clean Recovery benchmark based on participant performance.

The program is available globally as an onsite event and is offered in six languages. It will also be available through Commvault's global partner network, allowing partners to host the simulation for their customers.

According to the CrowdStrike 2026 Global Threat Report, the window between vulnerability discovery and active exploitation narrowed to 29 minutes in 2025, a 65% reduction compared to the prior year.

"The question organizations need to answer is no longer, 'Do we have a recovery plan?' Instead, they should be asking, 'Can we prove it will work under pressure?'" said Anna Griffin, Chief Market Officer at Commvault.

Allen Downs, Vice President of Security and Resiliency at Kyndryl, a launch partner, said the simulation helps customers "strengthen their readiness, validate their resilience, and improve their ability to recover from disruption."
