Cisco expands AI infrastructure with Supermicro partnership

Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) is adding rack-scale AI computing solutions to its Secure AI Factory with NVIDIA portfolio through a new partnership with Supermicro, according to a company press release.

Under the arrangement, Cisco will offer Supermicro liquid- and air-cooled server systems alongside its existing AI networking products, creating a combined infrastructure stack targeting enterprise, neocloud, and sovereign cloud customers. Availability is set to begin in October 2026.

The expanded portfolio includes support for NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 and NVIDIA HGX Rubin NVL8 platforms, enabling what Cisco describes as trillion-parameter model training and high-throughput inference workloads. The architecture also includes rack-to-fabric liquid cooling that pairs Cisco's liquid-cooled networking systems with Supermicro's liquid-cooled servers.

Cisco said the expanded offering will carry NVIDIA Cloud Partner (NCP) compliant solutions for neocloud and sovereign cloud customers. The company claims to be the only NVIDIA technology partner using its own networking switches and network operating system in an NCP-compliant solution, combining Silicon One-based front-end switches with NVIDIA Spectrum-X-based back-end switches unified through Cisco Nexus One.

As part of the rollout, Cisco is introducing Cisco Validated Infrastructure Services, aligned with NVIDIA's Infrastructure Services offer, to certify that deployed infrastructure matches reference architecture designs. The company also said it is investing in a dedicated large-scale AI lab to support that certification process.

"Every organization is racing to scale AI — but speed only counts if it comes with control of data, managed token costs, and real ROI," said Jeetu Patel, President and Chief Product Officer at Cisco.

Justin Boitano, Vice President of Enterprise AI at NVIDIA, said the expanded offering is intended to help enterprises and neoclouds get infrastructure into production faster.
