Beeline Kazakhstan launches Starlink satellite-to-mobile service

VEON Ltd. (NASDAQ: VEON) announced that its Beeline Kazakhstan subsidiary has launched Starlink's satellite-to-mobile service, which the company claims makes it the first operator in Kazakhstan to offer the technology.

The service allows customers to use Starlink Mobile on standard smartphones to access apps and messaging in areas without terrestrial mobile coverage, including mountains, remote locations, and highways outside cities. No satellite phone, antenna, or special equipment is required.

During an initial period, the service will be available to customers at no charge. Customers can activate and manage the service through Janymda, Beeline Kazakhstan's super app.

Beeline Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan's Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development signed a memorandum of cooperation with Starlink in November 2025 on the deployment of satellite-to-mobile technology, followed by initial trials in December 2025.

"Starlink Mobile is a powerful example of how connectivity can change lives, not just convenience. For someone stranded on a remote road or lost in the mountains, this could mean the difference between isolation and getting help," said Kaan Terzioglu, CEO of VEON Group.

Jabbor Kayumov, CEO of Beeline Kazakhstan, described the launch as "a real team effort and close collaboration with the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development and with Starlink Mobile."

Beeline Kazakhstan serves 11.8 million mobile customers and is majority-owned by VEON, which reports over 150 million connectivity users across five countries.
