Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS) announced earlier that it is planning to sell an electronic-book reader -- aptly named "Nook" -- in an effort to battle Amazon's (Nasdaq: AMZN) Kindle. The company unveiled the plans at a press conference in New York today.
The e-reader is expected to cost $259 and will run on AT&T's (NYSE: T) 3G network. Also adding to the list of related companies, Barnes & Noble said the device will use Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android software. Barnes & Noble has said that the Nook will begin shipping in November.
