Automated Industrial Robotics Inc. announced the acquisition of KAON Automation, an Ireland-based industrial automation company that provides automated systems for medical device assembly and aseptic filling applications.
The transaction expands AIR's presence in Ireland and strengthens its capabilities in the medical and life sciences markets. KAON, founded in 2005, specializes in precision assembly, aseptic high-speed filling and end-of-line automation for regulated medical applications.
KAON develops modular system architectures that enable flexible and scalable production environments, with expertise in intelligent conveyor systems. The company has combined central transport platforms with aseptic filling solutions to create high-speed filling systems with zero-touch change-over capabilities.
Following the acquisition, AIR's unified operating model now comprises more than 550 employees across approximately 450,000 square feet in the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom. The company is backed by Ares Private Equity funds.
"KAON is a high-quality business with strong technical depth, long-standing customer relationships and a culture that aligns closely with AIR's values," said AIR Executive Chairman Brian Klos and Chief Executive Officer Darragh de StonndĂșn in a statement.
KAON Co-Founders Garreth Finlay and Fergus Hynes stated that joining AIR provides their team with new scale and resources for expansion while maintaining their focus on engineering and customer partnerships.
The companies did not disclose financial terms of the transaction. AIR continues to pursue organic growth and selective acquisitions to expand its global automation platform, according to the company's press release.
