Aptevo Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: APVO) announced executive leadership changes effective April 1, 2026, according to a company statement. Marvin White, who has served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 2016, will retire from his current position and assume the role of Executive Chair.

Jeff Lamothe, currently Chief Operating Officer, will become President and Chief Executive Officer and join Aptevo's Board of Directors. John E. Niederhuber, M.D., will transition from Chairman of the Board to Lead Independent Director. All three executives have been with the biotechnology company since its inception in 2016.

White stated the transition reflects a shift in leadership alignment rather than a departure from the company. As Executive Chair, he will focus on identifying strategic growth opportunities while Lamothe assumes operational leadership responsibilities.

During White and Lamothe's tenure, the company developed its ADAPTIR and ADAPTIR-FLEX platform technologies and built a pipeline of eight molecules. The company has treated more than 100 patients with its CD123 x CD3 program, mipletamig, in acute myeloid leukemia trials.

Aptevo has established financial runway into 2029, including access to a $60 million equity line of credit. The company currently has two clinical candidates: mipletamig, being evaluated in a Phase 1b/2 trial for frontline acute myeloid leukemia, and ALG.APV-527, a bispecific conditional 4-1BB agonist co-developed with Alligator Bioscience.

Lamothe previously served as Chief Financial Officer before becoming Chief Operating Officer, overseeing Clinical, Research and Development, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations functions.
